Festive fireworks will be set off in Russia’s capital Moscow and the Crimean cities of Simferopol and Sevastopol at 10 p.m. Moscow time to celebrate the formation of two new constituent territories of the Russian Federation – the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol.
A corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. Putin ordered the Russian Defence Ministry to prescribe the procedure of the display.
Putin on Friday signed decrees on the accession of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation. The signing ceremony was held at the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin. Putin signed the law on the ratification of the interstate Agreement “On the Accession of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and Forming New Constituent Entities within the Russian Federation” that had been signed on March 18. According to the Agreement, from this date the Republic of Crimea is considered acceded to the Russian Federation.
Putin also signed the federal constitutional law on Crimea’s accession to the Russian Federation and on forming new constituent entities in the country – the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol. He also signed a decree on forming the Crimean Federal District within Russia and appointed Oleg Belaventsev his plenipotentiary envoy there.
