We were fortunate to get a great look at the red moon effect of the total Lunar Eclipse late last evening here in China.
Apparently, as the Earth moves in front of the Sun, the Sun’s light shines through the Earth’s atmosphere and much of the light is filtered out. The light that is left, illuminates the moon with a bright red color.
The sight was truly memorable. The late evening was cool and the sky was clear after a day of stormy weather. The sky’s cleared after midnight and reveled this spectacular sight! Our understanding is this was the longest lasting eclipse in a more then a decade.
